Johns Hopkins University Research Assistant in Baltimore, Maryland

The Division of Oncology Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins is seeking a research assistant to work on a casual/on-call basis (Hours vary/10 hours a week). The Research Assistant will help with the research in the dynamics of complex, biochemical networks in the therapeutic resistance of cancer. Working closely with faculty to create, run, and analyze simulations and prepare publications, the research assistant will be responsible for the following specific tasks: writing, debugging and running C++/R code to model therapeutic resistance in cancer, design, implementation and interpretation of simulations, other analysis tasks as needed.


The research assistant will be responsible for providing statistical and programming support, using standard and non-standard biostatistical and database methods to include: management and organization of large, complex data sets, working closely with faculty, providing basic statistical analyses, interpreting and summarizing analyses generated under faculty supervision, assisting in the development and implementation of methods, assisting in analytical preparations for grants, publications, and scientific meetings, and to provide other support for research activities as needed.

Carries out routine duties and responsibilities with supervision. Makes decisions and establishes work priorities on essentially procedure-oriented operations.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline and some related experience required. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. The ideal candidate will be available at least 10 hours per week.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.


MS in biostatistics, statistics or equivalent experience.

Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
